SunPlus Hires New Team Members

Although the pandemic has brought a number of uncertainties to the financial operations of the worldwide Seventh-day Adventist Church, the SunPlus family continues to evolve and adjust in order to meet the needs of users and partners around the world. Five new team members have joined the General Conference’s SunPlus support structure within the past six months.

Sarah Umutoni joined the team in November, based in the SunPlus Accounting Services Center in Kigali, Rwanda. Ms. Umutoni has a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree in accounting. She previously worked for the Adventist University of Central Africa and now serves as a Junior Accounting Support Specialist.

Jose Daniel Hernandez Howell also joined the team in November, based in the SunPlus Accounting Services Center in Panama City, Panama. Mr. Hernandez, a native of Honduras, has a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree. He previously worked for the Panama Union Mission and now serves as a Senior Accounting Support Specialist.

Virgielyn Cuizon joined the team in February, based in the SunPlus Accounting Services Center in Cavite, Philippines. Ms. Cuizon has a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in accounting and is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA). She previously worked for the South Pacific Division and now serves as a Senior Accounting Support Specialist.

Ayodele Asah joined the team in March, based in the SunPlus Accounting Services Center in Abuja, Nigeria. Mr. Asah has a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in accounting and is an Associate Chartered Accountant (ACA). He previously worked for the Western Nigeria Union Conference and now serves as the SunPlus MEDCore Implementation & Support Coordinator – Africa Region.

Gustavo Massaro also joined the team in March, based in the SunPlus Accounting Services Center in Pretoria, South Africa. Mr. Massaro, a native of Argentina, has a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree and is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA). He previously worked for the Euro-Asia Division and now serves as the SunPlus Quality Assurance Manager.

“We’re very excited to see how God is blessing the ministry of SunPlus with the dedication and experience these new team members bring,” said Brent Burdick, Director of SunPlus for the General Conference of Seventh-day Adventists. “We’re also very thankful to former team members Innocent Mpirwa and Jhon Montalvo who continue to serve the church through the ministry of SunPlus at the regional level.” Mr. Mpirwa now leads SunPlus for the East-Central Africa Division and Mr. Montalvo coordinates SunPlus for the church in Colombia.
